Browse Competitions1. ABOUT US AND THESE TERMS
These terms apply to every competition promoted by Boost Competitions Ltd, a company registered in Scotland under company number SC890779, whose registered office is 34A Viking Road, Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, ML6 9SE, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”, “our”), on our website at boostcompetitions.co.uk (the “Website”).
By entering a competition you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before entering. If you do not agree to them, please do not enter.
Each competition has its own page on the Website (the “competition page”). Details that are specific to a competition, including the prize, any cash alternative, ticket prices and bundles, the total number of entries, the entry limit per person, the closing date and the draw date, are set out on that page and form part of these terms for that competition. If anything on a competition page conflicts with these terms, the competition page applies to that competition.
These terms should be read alongside our Free Postal Entry page and our Privacy Policy.
2. THE PRIZE
The prize for each competition is described on that competition’s page, including any cash alternative. The prize description, images and stated value form part of these terms for that competition.
CASH ALTERNATIVE
Where a cash alternative is offered, the winner may choose either the prize or the cash alternative, as set out on the competition page. The winner must notify us of their choice within 14 days of being contacted. If no choice is communicated within that period, the prize itself will be awarded.
Where the cash alternative is lower than the estimated retail value of the prize, entrants should take this into account when deciding whether to enter.
VEHICLE PRIZES
Where the prize is a vehicle, it is provided in the condition described on the competition page, together with any stated MOT, service history and documentation. Unless the competition page says otherwise, the winner is responsible for insurance, road tax and registration once ownership transfers to them.
COLLECTION OF THE PRIZE
Unless the competition page states otherwise, the prize must be collected in person by the winner from our registered address in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. We do not deliver the prize unless the competition page says that delivery is included. The winner is responsible for their own travel to and from the collection point and, where the prize is a vehicle, for insuring and taxing it before driving it away.
Collection must be arranged within 28 days of the winner being notified. If the winner has not collected the prize within that period and has not agreed an extension with us in writing, we may, where a cash alternative is offered, award the cash alternative instead.
Where the prize is a vehicle, the winner must produce a valid full driving licence and photographic identification at collection.
SUBSTITUTION
The prize is not transferable and no part of it may be exchanged except as set out in these terms. If the prize becomes unavailable for reasons outside our control before the draw takes place, we reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value, or, where one is offered, to award the cash alternative.
NO WARRANTY
Unless the competition page expressly states otherwise, prizes are provided without any warranty or guarantee from us. Any manufacturer’s or third-party warranty or guarantee that happens to remain in force is a contract between the provider and the owner of the prize, is not provided, underwritten, administered or guaranteed by us, and does not form part of the prize we are obliged to provide. We accept no liability in relation to it.
PAYMENT OF CASH PRIZES AND PUBLICITY
Where a cash alternative or a cash prize is awarded, we will normally pay this by bank transfer. A winner who would prefer to collect in person and receive the prize at our premises may arrange to do so.
We film and photograph prize handovers for use on our website, social media channels and in advertising, and we will ask the winner to take part. This is not a condition of receiving the prize — a winner who would rather not appear can tell us, and we will either film the handover without them identifiable or not film it at all.
Where a winner does take part, they grant us permission to use that footage and those images without payment, for as long as we need them.
3. PRIZE AWARDED REGARDLESS OF ENTRIES
The prize for each competition, or the cash alternative at the winner’s choice where one is offered, will be awarded regardless of the total number of entries received.
4. WHO CAN ENTER
You may enter if you:
are aged 18 or over at the date of entry;
are resident in the United Kingdom; and
are not an employee or director of Boost Competitions Ltd, nor an immediate family member of one, nor anyone else professionally connected with the competition.
We may ask for proof of age, identity and address at any time. If you cannot provide it, or if you have entered in breach of these terms, your entry will be void and any prize forfeited.
5. HOW TO ENTER
There are two ways to enter, and both carry exactly the same chance of winning:
PAID ENTRY
Purchase one or more entries through the Website. Ticket prices and bundles are shown on the competition page. Before completing your purchase you must correctly answer the qualifying question.
FREE POSTAL ENTRY
No purchase is necessary. You may enter free of charge by post. Full instructions are on our Free Postal Entry page. Free postal entries are allocated ticket numbers from the same pool, in the same way, and are treated identically to paid entries in the draw.
ENTRY LIMITS
The maximum number of entries per person for each competition, across paid and free entries combined, is stated on the competition page. Entries above this limit will be void and any payment for them refunded.
TOTAL ENTRIES
The maximum number of entries for each competition is stated on the competition page. Once all entries have been allocated, no further entries can be made.
6. CLOSING DATE
Each competition closes on the earlier of: (a) the date and time stated on the competition page; or (b) the moment all available tickets are sold.
We will not extend the closing date of any competition in order to sell more tickets. The draw will take place on the stated draw date, whatever the number of tickets sold.
If a competition has to be postponed for reasons outside our control (for example, platform failure), all entrants will be notified and the competition will be drawn as soon as reasonably possible. No further tickets will be sold during any postponement.
7. TICKET NUMBERS
Every entry is allocated a unique ticket number between 1 and the total number of entries stated on the competition page. No number is ever issued twice within a competition.
Ticket numbers are drawn from a list that was randomly ordered before the competition opened, and are allocated in that order as entries are received. Numbers are assigned automatically and are not chosen by us.
Your ticket numbers are emailed to you after your entry is processed, and are also permanently available at My Account using your order number and email address. Please keep a record of them.
8. THE DRAW
The draw will take place on whichever of the following happens first:
as soon as reasonably practicable after all available entries have been allocated; or
on the closing date shown by the countdown on the competition page.
If the closing date is reached before all entries are allocated, the draw will still go ahead on that date using the entries received. Every entry received remains valid and in the draw.
The draw will be conducted using a random number generator and will be broadcast live on our Facebook and Instagram channels so that entrants can watch it take place. The winning ticket number will be announced publicly.
The winning number is drawn from the full range of ticket numbers for that competition. If the competition has not sold out and the number drawn has not been allocated to an entrant, a further number will be drawn until an allocated number is selected. This will be done in the same live broadcast.
Our decision on the conduct of the draw is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
9. THE WINNER
The winner will be contacted using the email address and telephone number provided at entry, within 7 days of the draw.
Before the prize is transferred, the winner must provide proof of identity and confirm the details used at entry. This may include photographic identification, proof of address, and confirmation of the payment method used to enter. We may take reasonable time to verify this before releasing the prize.
Where the prize is to be collected, collection will normally take place within 28 days of identity being verified, as set out in section 2. Where a cash prize or cash alternative is awarded, payment will normally be made by bank transfer within 14 days of identity being verified. Both periods may be extended where verification takes longer, where we are dealing with a payment dispute affecting the winning entry, or by agreement with the winner.
If identity cannot be verified, or if we reasonably believe the details provided at entry were false, we may withhold the prize, treat the entry as void, and select an alternative winner in accordance with these terms.
FRAUDULENT ENTRIES
Any entry, and any ticket number generated from it, will be treated as null and void if we reasonably believe it was obtained fraudulently. This includes, without limitation, entries paid for with a stolen or unauthorised payment method, entries where the payment is later reversed, refunded or charged back, entries using false identity or contact details, and entries obtained by circumventing these terms in any other way.
This applies whether the fraud is identified before or after the draw. If the winning ticket number is found to belong to a void entry, that number will not be treated as a winning entry, and we will draw again in the same manner as if the number had not been allocated.
We may withhold a prize pending investigation of a suspected fraudulent entry, and are not liable for any delay this causes.
UNCLAIMED PRIZES
If we are unable to make contact with the winner, or if the winner does not respond, within 21 days of the draw, we reserve the right to treat the entry as forfeited and to redraw. We will make reasonable attempts to make contact before doing so.
WINNER PUBLICITY
The winner’s first name and general location will be published on our website and social media channels. If you would prefer this not to happen, please tell us and we will discuss what we can reasonably do — but please note we may be required to make certain details available in order to demonstrate that the competition was run fairly.
The winner may be asked to take part in reasonable promotional activity, such as a photograph at collection. This is not a condition of receiving the prize.
10. NO REFUND POLICY
Because of the nature of our business, all entries are final. Each competition takes place at a fixed point in time and every entry is allocated a ticket number in a draw that cannot be repeated or reversed, so once your entry has been processed and allocated a ticket number it cannot be cancelled, changed, transferred or refunded. This applies whether or not the competition sells out, and whether or not you later change your mind, enter by mistake or are unable to take up the prize.
The only exceptions are where we cancel a competition before the draw, in which case we will refund all paid entries in full, and where entries are void under these terms because they exceed the entry limit, in which case the amount paid for those entries will be refunded.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights. If you believe you have entered in error, contact us as soon as possible through our contact page and we will consider your request, but we are under no obligation to refund.
11. THINGS OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL
We are not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, damaged or not received, whether by post or through technical failure. Proof of posting or of submission is not proof of receipt.
If circumstances outside our reasonable control prevent us from running a competition or awarding the prize as described, we may suspend, amend or cancel the competition. Where we do so, we will act fairly towards entrants and will publish our reasons.
12. OUR LIABILITY
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your participation in a competition or your use of the prize, beyond the amount you paid to enter.
Once the prize has been collected or delivered, the prize and all responsibility for it passes to the winner.
13. CONDUCT
We may void entries and refuse future entries where we reasonably believe there has been fraud, manipulation of the entry process, use of automated systems, or any other conduct intended to gain an unfair advantage.
14. COMPLAINTS
If you are unhappy with any aspect of a competition, please contact us through our contact page setting out the issue. We will respond within 14 days and will try to resolve matters directly with you.
15. DATA PROTECTION
We handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We are the data controller for information you provide when entering.
16. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
